Question

I had itchy red bumps show up in my pubic area(above my penis/below my belly). I used hydrocortisone to control the itching and it appeared to be going away. I had a few very stressful days and it popped up again along with a cold sore on my mouth.  I went to my doctor and he told me it was likely herpes and asked if I would like a blood test. I refused assuming he knew what he was talking about.

The doctor gave me valtrex which was really expensive and I took it for 5 days as directed. It appeared to be going away again(I don't know if it was on its own or if it was the medication), and seemed as if all that was left was scarring. Now it seems to be coming back again and there are a couple of really tiny red bumps on the shaft of my penis.

I have had sex(I thought it was gone and the skin was just scarred) and my girlfriend has not had any issues at all.

I just want to know what this is that's on me without paying an arm and a leg for extensive testing as I have no insurance.

I have only had sexual contact with one person my entire life, and she is the same way, but she doesn't have any issues at all.

I don't understand how I could have contracted herpes or anything down there for that matter.
